  • Northbound Highway 101

    • Sunday nights, 9:00 pm - 5:00 am, 1 lane: Bailard Ave to Santa Claus Ln

    • Monday - Thursday nights, 8:00 pm - 5:00 am, 1 lane:  Bailard Ave to Santa Claus Ln

  • Southbound Highway 101

    • Sunday nights, 10:00 pm - 7:00 am, 1 lane: Santa Claus Ln to Bailard Ave

    • Monday - Friday days, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, off-ramps at Casitas Pass Rd and Linden Ave

    • Monday - Thursday nights, 8:00 pm - 7:00 am, 1 lane:  Santa Claus Ln to Bailard Ave

*Please note that consecutive ramps will not be closed in the same direction at the same time.

Highway 101: Carpinteria

  • Franklin & Santa Monica Creek Bridges

    • The new median areas for the bridges are complete for this stage of work.

  • Sound wall:  southbound Highway 101 south of Carpinteria Ave

    • Crews finished installing the in-and-out textured block for the sound wall.


  • Highway 101

    • Median:  Crews will continue installing Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement. 

    • Bailard Avenue: Crews are installing two new drainage systems and will continue working on a new safety barrier under the Bailard Avenue Overpass.

Highway 101:  Linden and Casitas Pass

  • Highway 101, Linden Ave, Via Real, Casitas Pass Rd & the Ogan Rd roundabout 

    • All improvements are open for use! The new Via Real connection opened on Friday, September 4th. Crews also installed the new handrail for the stairs that access the updated bike path along Carpinteria Creek. Please expect to see crews finishing up construction items, such as curb ramps, lighting, final handrail details, and signal connections over the next few weeks.

  • Landscaping

    • The landscaping contractor is installing irrigation lines and connections. Please expect to see crews around Linden Avenue and the roundabout.

Highway 101: Carpinteria to Santa Barbara is a project undertaken by Caltrans and SBCAG in cooperation with local agencies to add a new carpool lane in each direction between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. The project will improve bridges, interchanges, on- and off-ramps, and add sound walls.
